Roger Toledo’s current studio is located on the top floor of a residential building in the Vedado neighborhood of Havana. When asked in an interview why he gave up his previous studio in a trendy part of Old Havana, which included dedicated gallery space, the artist explained that his work is not about making sales or even showing his work to as many buyers as possible. He would prefer to engage visitors who are willing to climb the three narrow flights of stairs to his studio, past his neighbors’ barking chihuahua, and see the world in which he creates his work.
